Your first 10 minutes with ChatGPT, the complete beginner's tour

What it actually is, three things to try right now, and the one habit that matters most.

The video lands soon. The complete lesson is already below, so you can start now and watch when it goes up.

ChatGPT is a computer program that has read an enormous amount of writing and can now hold a conversation, answer questions, and do writing and thinking tasks with you, in plain language, like you are talking to a person.

It is not a search engine and it is not magic. Treat it like a very capable assistant on their first week: sharp, fast, occasionally confidently wrong, and it gets better the more clearly you talk to it.

The prompts, free

The full prompts from this lesson, free:

01 · A real decision

I'm trying to decide between [option A] and [option B]. Help me think through what actually matters here, ask me questions if you need to.

02 · A boring task

I have to write [a bio / a summary / a short piece of writing]. Here's what's true: [real details]. Make it sound natural, not like a resume.

03 · Honest feedback

Here's a rough draft of something I wrote. Tell me honestly what's confusing or weak about it, then suggest one or two fixes. Don't rewrite the whole thing.

04 · The one habit

When an answer feels off or generic, just say so, in plain language. It will adjust.
